You can either mount their conveyors on the floor, or you can suspend them from the ceiling. Belt conveyor systems are all for materials handling, sorting and conveying. If a company has special needs, Hytrol will work with that company to give them exactly what is needed.

Those who have used their conveyors in the past include Barnes & Noble bookstore, Simon & Schuster, Nintendo of America, Inc, Ludent Technologies, Meyer Corporation (pots and pans), Excel Beef Processing, Dairy Farmers of America (fluid milk, value-added milk-based products), Sparta Detection Systems & Instruments, International Paper (Sanitary Food Containers and Beverage Cartons), Piggly Wiggly Stores, Tree of Life (Natural Foods), and hundreds of other companies.

You can easily see how to install these units, so you won't have any hidden problems when you order them by going to their website and downloading a manual. If you have problems, later-on, it's only your fault that you didn't do the proper research before you ordered.

You can either download a PDF Adobe Acrobat Version, or you can view it on-line. In the manuals are all the warnings, suggestions and instructions that will allow you to properly install and configure the conveyor systems. The TA version, for example, suggests that if you are going to install conveyors above exit passageways, corridors or aisles, they should have six foot 8" of clearance measured from the floor to the lowest part of the conveyor. Sometimes their suggestions are just common sense.

It details how to hang belt conveyor systems from the ceiling. Ceiling hangers should be mounted from ceiling hangers in lieu of using floor supports. After you have the conveyors in position, then you'll thread the belt through the system. It's been cut to the proper length, so you won't have to take out or add any links. The biggest thing you have to do is adjust the belt tension with the take-up pulley or tail pulley. Make sure that you keep the pulley square by moving both take-up bolts at the same time.

Afterwards, you install the lacing pin, which keeps the two belt ends together. If the belt is 4" to 10" in width, there's a lacing angle of 10. If it's 12" to 20" wide, it has a 5 lacing angle and if it's 22" to 60", its' a square lacing angle.

You would think it goes without saying, but you should never ride the load-carrying element of the conveyor unless you have been authorized by the owner to do so; and all personnel should be warned as to the dangers of having long hair, jewelry or clothing getting caught in pneumatic conveyor or belt conveyor systems.

Don't Ever Give Up

By Benjamin Cox
Well, I see my time is up. But, let me leave you with just these few words. "Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do something. Don't let them tell you that you can't do this or you can't do that. Don't let them tell you that you are too tall or you are too short, that you are too old or you are too young, that you are too fat or you are too thin, that you need a college education or you are over qualified. Set your goals high. Always aim just a little above the horizon, and most of all...Don't ever, ever, ever - give up!
